We understand that not everyone is looking for a Gun Dog.  Some owners want to be able to go on a hiking adventure with their pup.  Be able to go fishing with their dog enjoying the morning in the boat.  In this course, your companion will be given an evaluation to determine which goals can be set. The Outdoor Adventure course, your companion will be ready to join you and your family on any of your outdoor family excursions. A prerequisite for this course is our Basic Obedience Course.

We are a firm believer that what your pup learns early on will influence how they will be and train the rest of their lives. Make sure they get the socialization that it takes to be a great companion and productive member of society regardless of what field they go into as an adult Dog. Before we start formal training with our pups, we work on: introduction to the crate, playing with kids and adults, traveling in a vehicle and Polaris Ranger, learning limits, nature walks, simple obedience with treats, casting games with treats, walking on leash.  For Gun Dogs we also incorporate introduction to retrieving, introduction to birds, introduction to water and retrieving in water, introduction to thrown marks, introduction to gunfire at a distance, introduction to steadiness (utilizing food bowl feedings), This program may act as Stage 1 of our full Gun Dog Package, or as a stand alone service. Puppy head start program is $600 a month and must be at least 10 months old.

We have a desire to produce the best American Retrievers we possibly can.  We are not a puppy mill.  We raise a small number of litters each year, which focuses on QUALITY over quantity.  We conduct a selective breeding program aimed at producing puppies that will become excellent gundogs and excellent family dogs.  The price of an American Signature Kennels Puppy is $3000.  There is a $500 deposit to reserve a pup from one of our litters.  Once placed on the list your questionnaire will be reviewed to ensure the best litter pairing to meet your goals and lifestyle.  As we are not a puppy mill the average wait for a puppy from a litter that meets your individual requirement is between 3 to 18 months.

Select American Signature Kennels Puppies that have gone on to have great hunting careers and or have excelled in the Hunt Test world may be invited to become a part of the American Signature Kennels Breeding Program.

Health Guarantee

American Signature Kennels

We strive to breed Labradors that will exhibit natural hunting ability, calm temperament, and excellent health. We believe that genetic health testing is a helpful tool that can be used to protect and improve the Labrador retriever breed. We closely examine our breeding stock’s hips, elbows, eyes, and DNA before entering our breeding program. These tests are done in order to give our very best effort in producing healthy puppies. That said, it is impossible to “breed out” dysplasia and cataracts, etc. A health guarantee is our way of putting our best foot forward in ensuring that you have a Labrador who is able to carry out the lifestyle and hunting expectations you have for your future puppy.

Our Labrador puppies are guaranteed to be non-affected by Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), and Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC). Our puppies’ hips and elbows are guaranteed a passing OFA score (normal elbows – fair, good, or excellent hips) for up to 26 months. Eyes are also guaranteed up to 26 months to pass a CERF eye exam.  If any dog should fail to meet any of these guaranteed health qualifications, please contact us as soon as possible, and a credit will be given for the value of the original puppy toward another puppy from our kennel.

Please note, our replacement guarantee is toward a replacement puppy , NOT a refund. This replacement credit does not expire. We do not refund money for puppies.  Guaranteed Labradors do not need to be returned in order to receive a replacement.

All American Signature Kennels puppies  come with limited AKC Registration. Our aim is to produce healthy, athletic, trainable gundog companions, not supply breeders.

To qualify for the guarantee:

  • The dog must be in possession of its original owner.

  • Must not exhibit related disorders caused by trauma or accident.

  • Must not have been bred.

  • Must not have been neutered prior to 24 months of age, or spayed prior to the first heat cycle.

  • Be examined by a certified veterinarian, ophthalmologist, or DNA interpretation lab
